Chianciano Terme (Siena)
Built at the end of the 15th century as a roadside inn, it soon became the center of an estate owned by the great Hospital of Santa Maria della Scala in Siena. In 1924 it was bought by Antonio and Iris Origo who made it their residence.
The Villa is built on three levels, following the slope of the hill, and is surrounded by the famous garden created by Iris Origo and the English architect Cecil Pinsent - a "labor of love" which lasted many years. The house has a charm of yesteryear, furnished with beautiful antiques, comfortable beds and many charming rooms for private moments and family reunions.
Guests can relax in the swimming pool which is located in front of the lemon house, or eat under the pergola of the fountain garden, in the shade of roses and wisteria.
Layout
The villa has 24 beds and consists of: 9 double bedrooms with private bathroom, 3 twin bedded rooms with private bathroom, cloakroom and guest toilet.
The house also offers a delightful library with fireplace and sofas, a sunny living room with satellite TV, a frescoed dining room with balustrades for very special evenings, a second dining room closer to the kitchen, a breakfast room with double glass doors. overlooking the internal garden with fountain, and a study.
A large music room / living room with fireplace and comfortable sofas and armchairs is the ideal place to have fun with friends and for family reunions.
The kitchen is accessible only to the staff of the Villa. Guests can use the two kitchen corners (one on each floor) equipped with an electric kettle, microwave, refrigerator, induction plate. Tea, Nescafè and herbal teas are available to guests.
All rooms enjoy a splendid view of the garden and the valley.
Swimming pool: 12 x 4 m. Near the swimming pool, adjacent to the Limonaia, there is a bathroom with shower and toilet.
The garden
The historic garden La Foce is available to guests who will stay at Villa La Foce and who wish to take a relaxing walk in the greenery, except for Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, Sunday and national holidays, when it is open to the public (this is a requirement for most historic houses and gardens in Italy). Visitors will be accompanied by a guide during the visit, the privacy of the villa guests is guaranteed.
For stays in which the villa is rented with an event, it will be possible to use the historic garden but with an extra cost.

On request (for a fee): Washing and ironing service, Preparation of extra meals (the kitchen is accessible only to our staff), events in the historic garden.
