Sorrento (Costiera Amalfitana)
Stylish and refined, undoubtedly unique - these are the words that best describe Villa Gilda.
Staying at Villa Gilda you will have the sensation of living in a dream. Looking out over the sea you’ll feel as if you’re on the bow of a ship, sipping your favourite cocktail, lying down comfortably on soft sofas, or relaxing in the large, heated hydromassage external tub. From dawn till dusk, or even beneath a blanket of stars, you’ll never cease to be amazed by the beauty of the unique and varied panoramic view.
This is a luxury residence on two floors, with great comforts, natural fabrics such as linen, high-quality wood, and designer furniture, all providing plenty of charm. Set in the middle of two prestigious buildings and full of history, it’s the perfect location for a holiday experience from another era. In fact, it is built on the site of an old Roman home, dating back 2.000 years, and the remains are still visible on the ground floor with the splendid walls and the inspiring cave, an essential passageway for carrying water from the springs. In fact, during the times of the Roman Empire, Sorrento, and in particular this stretch of coastline, was chosen by Roman nobles as the location for their impressive summer villas.
The mild climate, incomparable scents, unique panoramic views with breathtaking colours, were the very things that attracted them, as remains the case today.
Agrippa, for example, a Roman politician, soldier, and architect, built an impressive villa, which was then passed on to Caesar Augustus, the first Roman Emperor. Today it is the site of the Hotel Syrene.
Because of this, many noble aristocrats sought locations nearby for their own summer residences.
The villa can accommodate up to 9 people and is fitted with air conditioning, underfloor heating, and a romantic fireplace for the winter.
Set in a picturesque location on a tuff rock terrace overlooking the Gulf of Naples, Sorrento is the most famous town on the Sorrentine coast. A notable holiday destination since ancient times, it has won over millions of visitors with its breathtaking views, enchanting countryside, marinas, and inviting historical centre.
For people looking for accommodation in the heart of Sorrento, Villa Gilda is the perfect choice. The beach, the best restaurants, and the historic centre are just a few hundred metres away. The train station and the port are reachable on foot, giving you the opportunity to visit other renowned locations such as Capri, Ischia, Ravello, Pompeii, and Positano.
In Sorrento, you’ll enjoy a holiday with the comfort, sophistication, and true full relaxation you’ve always dreamed of.
