Cinta Senese

Tasting the Cinta Senese

Some people think that the Cinta Senese, an ancient breed of pig, was already known and bred by the ancient Romans. One thing is certain, however: in 1300 the Cinta Senese was bred in the Siena area, as documented by Ambrogio Lorenzetti's famous painting "L'Allegoria ed effetti del Buon e Cattivo Governo", preserved in the Palazzo Comunale in Siena.

It will be possible to visit the wild breeding of the Cinta Senese, to visit a small salumificio in order to get to know the transformation techniques, to taste the salumi, acquiring the elements to learn how to distinguish the good and the genuine from the industrial products.
